Detail information about job Full Stack Developer. Terms and conditions vacancy

  • One of the most exciting big data projects in Australia right now!
  • Fantastic employer - award winning employee wellness program
  • Competitive salary package & work/life balance

Queensland’s councils are not immune from the challenges of big data and the impact this has on effective decision making. That is why the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ) has developed LG Sherlock as a part of the LGAQ’s Better Councils, Better Communities initiative.

Reporting to the LG Sherlock Project Manager, the Full Stack Developer will work with the teams three Data Scientists and Data Engineer to turn council and third-party datasets into bespoke web-based analytics tools for Queensland Councils.

Whilst still in its relative infancy (11 months), LG Sherlock’s Analytics Forward Work Program (FWP) is currently 60 projects deep. The purpose and lines-of-business these projects will cover include: improved social outcomes, financial savings, operational efficiencies and reduced risk, with each project focussed on improving council’s financial sustainability and local communities. Initial projects being progressed by the team include: a Fleet Management Tool and predictive vehicle maintenance model; and an Energy Consumption Tool that detects billing anomalies.

We are looking for a Full Stack Developer with strong skills in back-end development that will be utilised in the initial stages. Then  ongoing activities will require an impressive skillset and keen interest in front-end, to develop highly interactive websites and data visualisations. This will include working with team members to ensure the solutions repeatably interrogate numerous databases to display the data results. To support this, we are looking for a candidate with experience in and passion for contemporary UI and UX trends, and powerful and interactive data visualisations (using JavaScript libraries) to ensure clean, simple solutions that maximise user adoption and use.

As the team consists of a broad range of disciplines – data scientists, business analysts, data engineers and project officers, we require a candidate with exceptionally strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Whilst not essential, experience on big data projects would be highly desirable.

For more information regarding the role a position description is available through the application portal. Applications will close on Monday 23rd July at midday, please note that the portal does not allow for drafts to be saved. For any questions relating to the opportunity, please contact our HR Manager Cara Hughes on 3000 2222.
