Due to significant growth plans, we are currently seeking an ICT Service Engineer to provide quality support services to Thiess’ remote mining operations. Based out of Mackay, this role is responsible for ICT maintenance/service/upgrades of the hardware & software at our mine sites.

Your Role:

The end-to end accountabilities of this position will include the following key areas of delivery:

  • Provide timely & quality support, investigation, response, feedback, escalation, assistance and resolution to incidents logged by the Thiess Helpdesk to Thiess & Business Unit Employees
  • Travel to the Sedgman & Thiess mine sites to maintain/service/upgrade their hardware & software including Windows 10
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, integrity, interpersonal and communication skills and present a customer focused attitude in daily operations
  • Ensure all Incidents and work tasks are updated and maintained in a timely and informative manner to promote SLA compliance and knowledge
  • Develop & maintain relationships with business representatives and key stakeholders
  • Ensure all systems and network services are available when required by the business and are performing as expected
  • Provide technical advice and support to internal/external staff when required
  • Day to day administration of Thiess Systems and associated hardware
  • Diagnose and resolve support calls relating to the abovementioned Thiess systems
  • Install and implement hardware and software on Local Area Networks and standalone workstations, providing initial customer instruction where necessary
  • Provide information relating to customers hardware and software purchasing decisions
  • Produce and maintain process documentation
  • Assist procurement needs by obtaining prices and sourcing ICT supplies as directed
  • Maintain the Service Catalogue in relation to Change Requests and other related maintenance
  • Adopt change management processes and best practices in the implementation of changes to major IT&T systems through ITIL based practices
  • Keep up to date with industry developments and identify appropriate applications and new initiatives as required
  • Report at weekly team meetings on project activities and support tasks
  • Report support issues, training requirements and recommendations for process improvement to management
  • Provide technical advice and support to ICT Support staff when required
  • Ensure that business requirements are considered and catered in all planning activities
  • Work in a safe manner at all times, ensuring the safety of self and others
  • Environmentally friendly disposal of all ICT hardware (e-waste)

 Your background and experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology
  • Working with cloud applications
  • Writing design, project documentation and process documentation
  • Working within a complex ICT server environment
  • Operation and technical support of PC’s, associated peripherals and software in a complex windows environment
  • Working in an environment that is tracked via an incident management tool
  • Firm knowledge of industry cabling standards and methods
  • Ability to communicate effectively to others at all levels of the organisation and impart industry knowledge
  • Working knowledge of enterprise ICT environments
  • Knowledge of ITIL practices desirable
  • Knowledge of server technologies such as AD, Group Policy, Citrix
  • Knowledge of virtualisation technologies such as VMware
  • Knowledge and experience of cloud platforms such as Azure
  • Knowledge of mobile device management platforms such as Intune
  • Knowledge of Anti-Virus/security practices
  • Ability to provide in-depth technical PC support and analysis

Considerable domestic travel to remote mine sites and remote camp accommodation is required. Additionally, suitable candidates will require access to a reliable vehicle to undertake travel.
