As a Database Engineer you will be responsible for the design, development and integration of complex database management systems to accommodate client user needs. As a member of the DevOps team, you will focus on Site Reliability Engineering activities including but not limited to building and implementing infrastructure tools, supporting the CI-CD platform through automating deployment and working together with development teams to build scalable processes and tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and support scalable, redundant infrastructure using technologies utilised within the deployment pipeline (e.g. Python, Terraform, Shell, Groovy, Jenkins etc)
  • Design scalable solutions that can seamlessly integrate with our CI-CD pipelines (experience with AWS, Azure, Containerisation, Image development (Docker and Machine), Infrastructure-As-Code)
  • Incorporate database persistent/storage layer solutions into broader enterprise architectural solutions
  • Improve existing infrastructure to incorporate latest technology best practices and cross application integrations
  • Day-to-day collaboration with CI-CD Engineers, Quality Engineers, Site Reliability Engineers, Developers and project teams
  • Orchestrate development, testing and pre-prod deployments
  • Assist development teams with application performance issues related to database access
  • Manage individual project priorities, deliverables, and deadlines
  • Responsible for network architecture design and implementation
  • Produce clear documentation for delivered solutions
  • Keep abreast of technology directions for data persistent e.g. relational, NoSQL, xml storage persistence
  • Contributing to the development of policies and procedures governing corporate database operations and related issues

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • 7 years total experience
  • 4+ years of experience in DevOps
  • Cloud experience desired
  • Experience with operations support (e.g. job monitors, error handling, environment creation, etc.)
  • Experience supporting containerisation (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes etc.)
  • Experience supporting CI-CD pipelines
  • A leader and problem solver
  • Be strong in troubleshooting technical issues, communicating and documenting procedures, and recommending architectural changes if necessary
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in an exciting, dynamic environment
  • High energy; continuous desire to learn/grow; intellectual curiosity
  • Self-sufficient, resourceful, able to work independently
  • Not afraid to make mistakes; willing to find creative solutions to difficult problems
  • Open-minded, hypothesis led, data-driven mindset
