The successful applicant will be responsible for the continual availability of business information systems, and the maintenance, lifecycle management, support, monitoring incident remediation, automation and continual improvement of those systems.
In addition, you will be responsible for the development of the deployment pipeline throughout a range of environments.
The GBST systems are a hybrid of on-premises, cloud and vendor, and the role involves responsibility for the functioning of the numerous integrations and security of data flows. The role requires a strong background in infrastructure provisioning in on-prem and cloud, combined with the ability to script reproducible infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage AWS server/storage deployments including release process, image management, backup/restore, HA/DR
- Manage monitoring environment - write health checks scripts in Shell or similar
- Ensure system availability, reliability, and usability
- Perform end-to-end administration of AWS infrastructure, focusing on Linux based systems
- Support maintenance and backup of stateful workloads for SQL Server, MySql, MongoDb
- Build machine images using tools like Packer for docker images and AMIs
- Troubleshoot complex problems and resolve operational issues
- Perform EC2 instance maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes, vulnerabilities, and security configuration
- Manage environment resources with Terraform for fully scripted environment provisioning
- Manage all AWS provisioning via Terraform and/or AWS CLI
- Confidently work with Git source code management for all scripting
- Support docker container deployments using Kubernetes
- Experience in Linux operating system fundamentals (e.g. shell commands and scripting, SSH, iptables, systemd, SELinux, LinuX Containers (LXC))
- Ability to troubleshoot DNS, proxy, TLS and network issues for software defined networks
The Ideal Candidate will have:
- 2-5 years as a Linux system admin supporting enterprise computing platforms and systems
- 2+ years with virtualization technologies
- 1+ years exp running production systems on AWS (or equivalent Azure/Google Cloud)
- Knowledge of Amazon EC2 including machine image management, storage
- Understanding of Amazon EC2 regional center, availability zones, and HA strategies
- Must have experience with monitoring tools (Splunk, Nagios, PagerDuty, Prometheus)
- Experience supporting customer facing multi-tenant infrastructure (SaaS) or similar cloud related services
- Experience with Shell, Python, Ruby, and open source-based systems
