Our client are seeking a Front End Developer to work in Canberra on a 12 month contract with a possible 12 month extension.

The Front End Developer must have strong UI design skills to create highly functional, visually rich interfaces, these must be usable and accessible across all common browsers and devices, ensuring a consistent experience for all customers at every touch point across multiple services and products.

The Business Systems branch of the Digital Strategy and Operations Division is a multi-disciplinary area which consists of product owners, designers, back-end developers, testers and analysts. The specialist will also be required to work with other teams outside the branch to ensure there is a consistent customer experience across multiple services/ products.

Protected Level security clearance is required for the position

• JavaScript (including third-party frameworks e.g. jQuery) development skills and a focus on front end performance
• Rapid prototyping experience using CSS (including CSS3 - particularly media queries) and HTML (including HTML5)
• Experience designing for multiple browsers and devices, and meeting accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.0 AA
• A very good eye for design detail and high standards
• Strong communication skills with the ability to aptly articulate design decisions through a well-conceived rationale
• Comfortable working with and influencing multiple stakeholders across multi-disciplinary teams in a large, complex environment

• Experience working with frameworks/libraries such as React.JS, SASS, LESS, Grunt, Node.JS etc
• Motion / animation experience with the ability to construct seamless interactions through functional modern effects, transitions and animations that add to the brand personality
• Experience working with third party content management systems
• Knowledge of analytics and SEO
• Experience working within Agile and Lean development methodologies
• Experience working on the digital transformation agenda within government
• Skills in Adobe Creative Suite and/or Sketch
• Tertiary qualifications in a design related field: Graphic / Communication Design, Interaction Design, Product Design
• An understanding of UI workflow tools and framework
