Butterfly is an award-winning digital agency specialising in creating effective websites with custom design and development paired with digital strategy.

Working with an all-in-house team, you will have direct access to all knowledge in the business — we value skill-sharing and cross-pollination between design, UX, development, quality assurance, and project management. We have a young, vibrant and creative team, and have great offices on Lonsdale St in the Melbourne CBD.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior UX Designer to establish the UX position and processes at Butterfly.

We're looking for a talented person who brings fun, energy and creativity to their work and our office environment. Primarily working on digital design projects, you will be responsible for research, user journey mapping, and persona creation through to information architecture, wireframing and prototyping. We have a talented team of senior UI designers that you would work with to ensure that the user experience and visuals are world-class. This is a full-time role based in Melbourne CBD and presents a great opportunity to work with a fast-growing Melbourne web agency.

Responsibilities:

• Driving activities and workshops that uncover customer problems and insights
• Conducting and translating research and insights into creative solutions and actionable outcomes
• Confidently presenting research, pitching insights, documentation, and wireframes both internally and to clients
• Wireframing and prototyping
• Work collaboratively with development, creative, and project management teams
• Continually driving process implementation and iteration
• Managing multiple project deadlines
• Working within budget restraints for each project

Required skills and experience:

• At least 3 years in a dedicated UX role within a digital agency
• At least 7 years in design roles or similarly appropriate positions
• A deep understanding of UX processes and methodologies
• Solid understanding of information architecture, web usability, and accessibility
• Proven experience facilitating workshops
• Experienced in creating personas, customer journeys, scenarios and user flows
• Wireframing and building interactive prototypes with InVision, Adobe XD, Sketch or similar
• Ability to write persuasive copy and documentation to support wireframes with compelling rationales and example content
• Exceptional communication skills 
• Ability to work on the fly to modify your solutions as new information comes to hand
• Experience working in an agile environment
• Analytical mind with a business acumen
• Enjoy working collaboratively with other designers, developers and producers

Nice to haves:

• Experience running Design Sprints
• Proficiency in Keynote, Slides, or similar 
• Ability to bring UI design skills, app design, or some other bonus skills to our team
• Wireframing software such as Axure, Adobe or UXpin
