Our client, a well-known and respected Australian organisation, are on the look-out for an experience Data/Research Specialist to lead a highly talented team across a number of project and BAU initiatives. As well as a friendly and supportive environment.

The Role:

As part of the Research Reporting, Analysis, Data and Systems (RRADS) team, the main purpose of this role is to lead a specialist team that are responsible for supporting Research Information Systems. These systems are a mix of database and reporting technologies that provide a suite of specialised reporting and data management tools to ensure appropriate levels of data governance, quality and accuracy, specifically in connection with the management, collection and reporting of Grants and Contracts data, ERA data, benchmark data and research performance indicators among others. In this role you will:

• Establish data management framework and efficient work processes to cater to business needs
• Ensure documentation of systems and work processes across the team
• Translate technical information into clear, readable documents to be used by technical and non-technical personnel
• Take ownership of team deliverables and proactively engage with other teams and stakeholders to provide excellent service
• Manage vendor deliverables through regular meetings and report to management on performance
• Review current research data model and design new models and ETL to cater to research reporting needs
• Manage and develop applications/systems used within the Research Portfolio
• Contribute in developing data governance principles, policies and implement across research portfolio and ensure compliance at all times
• Develop SQL/PL SQL based applications and apply best practices in design and coding
• Build and maintain XML, Python, R applications to cater to data management and analysis activities
• Support in developing data platform to assist research reporting framework for various tools such as SSRS, Tableau, PowerBI

To be considered for this role, you will have:

• Demonstrated ability to lead teams consisting of technical and functional staff and train team members with emerging technologies
• Excellent knowledge of data manipulation techniques to ensure data consistency across a wide range of datasets extracted from various sources
• Advanced knowledge of enterprise systems (HR, Finance, Student, Research)
• Extensive experience in managing and developing solutions based on software packages (SSRS, SQL/PL SQL, Tableau, R, Python) and their application to data management
• At least five years of experience in data reference architecture, modelling, and ETL processes
• Sound knowledge over data governance framework including data dictionary, quality and policies
• Demonstrated project management experience in small – medium projects
• Excellent organisational, analytical, problem solving and statistical skills, especially in an environment of strict deadlines and high data volume manipulations
