Position Title: IT Technical Specialist

Employment Type: Full time Permanent

Hours per week: 38hrs per week

Position Grade/ Classification: SVPHS SYDPATH ANNUAL SALARY

Salary: Total Remuneration Package (TRP) of $94,010.13. This amount is inclusive of statutory superannuation. Any on-call sessions will attract additional payment as outlined below:

Weekday - $20.00 per diem Saturday, Sunday and NSW Public Holidays - $40.00 per diem Calls(s) received and work done for after hours - $50.00 per hour or any part thereof (15 minute minimum with a maximum of 8hrs in any one calendar date)

Position Summary:

A vacancy exists in the above unit for a highly motivated IT Technical Specialist with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive team. Our progressive and innovative team offers development opportunities for our staff and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality patient centred care. The successful applicant(s) will be expected to provide day to day desktop and application(s) support of mission critical Pathology Laboratory Information Systems



The vacancy is open to Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens who hold a valid New Zealand passport, Australian permanent residents and those non-residents deemed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to be eligible to work in Australia only.

Selection Criteria

  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
  • Have a degree in IT related field with 5 years or more experience in application support and systems administration.
  • Working experience with Database Administration including database backup & restore, database monitoring tools, journaling for various types of databases Oracle, cache database, MySQL, MSSQL 2008, MSSQL 2012. Experience with SQL data extract, in particular Crystal Report, ODBC connection, BI (Business Intelligent)
  • Working experience with systems interfacing (such as HL7 messaging, instruments interfacing), Windows Servers, Terminal Servers, networking, Desktop Operating Systems & standard desktop software support
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Well developed written & verbal communication skills
  • Exposure to working with multiple systems and hardware environments within a pathology laboratory
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with all professionals and consumers in the service, within the hospital, and within the community and available to work after hour IT support to ensure the efficient functioning of the unit
