Boeing Phantom Works International (PW-I) delivers the region's most sophisticated decision support, concept development and technology prototyping capability providing advanced operations analysis, modelling, simulation and Defence experimentation and development services for Boeing projects and customers worldwide.  We are now recruiting for the position of Lead Software Developer/Technical Lead (Modelling and Simulation) located at our Brisbane office to lead development of Boeing's next generation defence modelling and simulation framework and computer generated forces (CGF) software. 

Successful applicants for the position will be experienced career C++ software developers with demonstrated ability to lead Agile Scrum teams and have a depth of experience and passion for software product development and application design/architecture in areas such as; effects based modelling and simulation, data visualisation/analytics, scientific computing, real-time computer graphics and/or serious games development. 

Applicants will need to meet the following:

Essential criteria:

  • Experienced Agile software development team leader
  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or related
  • Minimum 5+ years' experience in the desired technical disciplines
  • Strong knowledge of modern C++ principles and practice (C++11 / 14) is mandatory and C++ frameworks (eg Qt, Boost)
  • Strong JavaScript skills, with demonstrated proficiency of modern front-end technologies and frameworks (VueJS , Angular, React, JQuery, etc.)
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills able to work with people across all organisational levels
  • Ability to obtain an Australian defence security clearance (NV1) 

Desirable criteria:

  • Background/familiarity with Defence modelling and simulation systems, software and technology
  • Comfortable with interpreting engineering maths and physics concepts and implementing as software models and algorithms
  • Strong knowledge of modern native and web 3D graphics development (OpenGL, OpenSceneGraph, CesiumJS, WebGL)
  • Experience of full-stack webtech application development, including design and implementation of asynchronous Web APIs (REST, SSE, WebSockets etc.), and demonstrated proficiency with modern server-side technologies and frameworks (Node, Express, Django, Mongo, etc.)
