Downer is now adding to the strength of its safety team with a HFC Zero Harm Advisor, reporting in our Gladesville, NSW office. The key scope will have a strong focus on developing and providing expert advice on Downer’s Zero Harm Culture and legislative requirements as well as managing 2 direct reports. Your previous field based experience combined with training, mentoring and coaching staff will ensure your success in this position. Our ideal candidate will have a heavy industry or telecommunications background combined with strong field based experience around audits and inspections. A thorough understanding of civil excavation, cable hauling and trenching will be essential.

 Furthermore, you will be responsible for:

  • Assisting in the development of Zero Harm Management Plans, Safe Work Method Statements, Job Safety Analysis and other Zero Harm Risk Management Documentation
  • Conducting real time management of incidents and leading minor and ICAM investigations in response to incidents in the workplace and on worksites combined with extensive knowledge of the HFC network
  • Ensuring that Downer's Zero Harm policies, procedures, practices & legislative requirements are complied with through training and audit
  • Coaching and mentoring the Project Management Team in Downer's Zero Harm culture requirements and leading Zero Harm work practices
  • Leading Zero Harm Training, Incident & Crisis Management & Zero Harm Reporting

ABOUT YOU

  • Minimum Certificate IV WHS/OHS, Certificate IV Training & Assessment
  • An understanding of safety requirements and its application within the communications industry
  • Extensive working knowledge of safety requirements and their application to achieve business and legislative outcomes
  • Ability to influence and effect change to achieve safety targets over a sustained period with a subcontractor and employee workforce
  • Minimum proven previous experience in driving the creation and maintenance of a strong safety culture with a large workforce.
  • A thorough understanding of the application and compliance with continuous improvement and auditing of AS4801, ISO14001, 9001 and OFSC Accreditation
