Our client supports a number of Australian Government departments through a SOC that is focused around collaboration and success, and you'll be a part of a skilled operations team managing dynamic multi-tenanted and dedicated secure gateway environments.
  
This specialised contract opportunity within the Operations Design and Engineering group for a Senior Infrastructure Architect to facilitate the delivery of a new client service. You will be responsible for architecture, design, and implementation and of a new Security Platform, built on new data centre infrastructure.
  
The primary purpose of this role is to deliver the Platform Architecture and Detailed Design documentation, technology stand-up, including integration with existing systems and technical oversight of third party delivery. As the project closes, this role will facilitate handover of the platform to operational teams for ongoing service delivery.
  
Responsibilities:

• Develop Detailed Designs within the agreed High Level Solution and in accordance with the functional performance specification and security requirements outlined and translate those into operational documentation as the project progresses.
• Act as Design authority for the PaaS environment within the Project Team 
• Partner with vendors and stakeholders to understand their capabilities work collaboratively to provide solutions and optimise the design.
• Oversee the “design and build” of the datacentre infrastructure and platforms including compute, storage, network, virtualisation, orchestration and automation technologies
• Provide technical leadership in design, build and transition activities for the platform.Work with the Project Team to identify and deliver the application requirements and systems integrations.
• Identification of technical risks and work in collaboration with project stakeholders to inform and mitigate technical risks
• Make decisions relating to the management of technical issues in accordance with the Project Lead and Client Service Manager.
• Attendance at project meetings (internal & external).  

Skills/Experience:

• 6-8 years experience in architecting, designing and building large multi-vendor data centre infrastructure platforms with structured architecture development methodologies
• Demonstrable experience in the architecture, design and deployment of large scale-out storage and compute platforms, preferably from the following vendors / technologies:
• Scale out storage - Dell EMC
• High performance switching - Juniper
• Packet brokerage – cPacket
• Virtualisation - KVM
• Linux – Ubuntu
• Automation / Orchestration – Ansible & Puppet
• Understanding of various security technologies including encryption, tapping and Sandboxing.
• Experience working in highly secure government environments with a current Baseline clearance and working understanding of the ASD ISM controls and their applicability to operational systems.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills with demonstrable experience of presentation and engagement with customers.
