The Senior DevOps Systems Engineer will:

• Have the ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and tools,
• Have the ability to code and script,
• Be experienced with systems and IT operations,
• Be comfortable with frequent, incremental code testing and deployment,
• Have a strong grasp of automation tools,
• Have data management skills,
• Have a strong focus on business outcomes,
• Be comfortable with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders.

Key Skills: 

• Experience with automation tools,
• Excellent development, scripting skills,
• Ability to research solutions for a given problem and present the pros and cons of those in an easy way,
• Ability to research new technologies to improve current processes,
• Ability to write maintainable code (readability, extensibility), 
• Ability to work autonomously, and within cross-functional, self-managed teams, Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban, and experience with frequent release cycles,
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills,
• Ability to adequately document (both diagrammatically and in writing) all relevant parts of an application as it is designed or developed,
• Good time management and planning skills.

 
Qualifications and Experience:

• Experience with automation tools such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible etc.,
• Hands-on experience with CI systems such as Jenkins,
• System Administration experience in a Red Hat and Windows environment,
• Good experience with networking technologies in a large environment,
• Experience with virtualisation hypervisors - VMware or Hyper-V  
• Excellent scripting experience in Ruby, Bash, Powershell, Python etc., 
• Good experience with version control systems such as Gitlab or Github,
• Strong RDMS experience with MS SQL Server, MySQL or PostgreSQL,
• Development experience,
• In-depth knowledge of application servers such as Glassfish, Tomcat, IIS etc.,
• Experience with cloud technology vendors such as AWS or Azure desirable.
