Detail information about job Applications Engineer. Terms and conditions vacancy

  • State-of-the-art digital water meter (IoT) platform.
  • Customer facing, hands on technical role.
  • Competitive salary and flexible working arrangements.

Digital water metering has emerged as an exciting Internet of Things (IoT) application and Australian utilities have been actively trialing technology and preparing for volume deployments.

Aquiba designs and manufactures high reliability long-life battery powered digital water meters with integrated Low Power Wide Area (LPWA) radio connectivity.

Aquiba’s product development team is based on the Sunshine Coast in Australia and has a dedicated manufacturing team based in Japan.

Aquiba provides the excitement of a technology start-up, while being incubated within a large, stable and mature international manufacturing business.

This position will appeal to you if you enjoy a customer facing technical role where your attention to detail and customer service will ensure tangible success.

Role Summary:

Reporting to the Product Manager, you will work closely with our customers to ensure a successful experience with Aquiba products and services. You will be required to develop and maintain technical contacts within partner organisations and the broader IoT ecosystem to ensure Aquiba customers have a solution and not just a product.

The role will require the application of technical knowledge and support to Aquiba’s customers in Australia and New Zealand. This specifically includes Aquiba’s external customers, such as Water Authorities and business partners, but it will from time to time include high levels of engagement and support to Aquiba’s own product development team.

Responsibilities:

  • Apply customer service focus and technical knowledge to enable positive customer outcomes using the features and benefits of Aquiba product.
  • Support our customers through all phases - from pre-sales to final deployment - across smart meter field trials, pilots and large scale commercial deployments.
  • When required, travel to project sites to perform project start-up, integration, commissioning and training services.
  • Create, maintain and present technical documents aimed directly at helping our customer effectively use Aquiba product as part of their metering solution.
  • Provide case management and coordination of customer technical issues through to resolution.
  • Assist with the development of integration tools and documentation, specifically to facilitate the adoption of Aquiba product into the IoT ecosystem of business partners.
  • Contribute to the product development roadmap by providing feedback on customer experience, use cases, applications, issues and problems.
  • Support the product development team during verification and validation activity associated with new product development and existing product design changes.

About you:

  • Excellent listening, questioning and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced Diploma in Engineering, Software, Computer Science, Electronics or equivalent is preferred.
  • Driver’s license is mandatory.
  • High level of computer literacy with experience in software development, integration or administration is essential.
  • Experience with Cloud based software services, IP Networks, IoT, Radio Technology, Cellular communications, communications protocols and/or data telemetry equipment and applications is highly desirable
  • While not essential, exposure to communications protocols including TCP/IP, UDP/IP, RESTful, ZigBee, MQTT, CoAP, LWM2M or specific experience with Cellular physical layer, including 3G, LTE, NBIoT or Cat M1 would be desirable.
  • The ability to prioritise your workload and work as part of a team and autonomously.

If you are excited by the prospect of a challenging technical role in a fast-moving new product sector we want to hear from you.
