The Opportunity
The Head of Data is a new role in the Product function reporting to SEEK's Product Director.
The primary focus of the role is to educate, evangelise and work with product delivery teams on how to best produce data assets that can be combined with other data assets across multiple domains to optimise the employment marketplace.
You will champion data being a key priority and help educate and build the capability across teams on data management.
More specifically:
- Coach Product Owners to be Data Stewards and define accountabilities for effective management of data assets. Highlight trade-offs where delivering functionality conflicts with data asset enhancement.
• Establish ongoing links between teams responsible for production or consumption of data in a two-sided marketplace.
• Work collaboratively with Strategy to define a Data Strategy and Data Roadmap that aligns to the Product Roadmap.
• Work with Security to define policies for data protection, classification, encryption, backup, retention and erasure.
• Work with Architects and Engineers to improve data discoverability and automate data sharing and quality checking.
• Map out data sources and data movements and identity, track and remediate data issues.
Who are we looking for?
To be successful in this role, the following skills and experience are necessary:
- Experience defining, coaching and empathically delivering non-invasive data governance; and, stewardship or management.
- 3+ years’ experience in a product orientated Data Analytics or Science position within a collaborative and dynamic agile online environment.
- Experience translating technical concepts into business concepts that less technical stakeholders can readily understand.
- Understanding of GDPR and the APP.
- Understanding of data capture, aggregation and visualisation technologies.
