Elbit Systems of Australia Pty Ltd (ELSA) is a growing presence in the Australian defence industry. ELSA's main business is Systems Integration for the Australian Defence Force (ADF), with an emerging presence in the intelligence and cyber markets. 

We require a customer service focussed team player who can handle Level 1 and 2 Helpdesk matters with ease. The position involves resolving day-to-day technical issues of the organisation and its team members in the Melbourne office as well as working on any projects as defined by the IT Manager. This is an initial fixed term employment opportunity for 6 months and is designed to provide additional assistance to our small IT team.

As our additional Help Desk/Desktop Support team member you will be reporting to our IT Help Desk Team Leader:

  • Supporting the Melbourne Office (and our other offices as needed) with hardware and network issues
  • Providing technical advice and training to users as required
  • Providing ongoing maintenance of ELSA's core systems
  • Proactively suggesting system improvements and document and implement approved suggestions
  • Preparing reports and project proposals for the IT Manager as required
  • Ensure that all help desk queries are recorded and tracked in the relevant helpdesk system (ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus).

What qualities/experience will you need to succeed?:

  • A ‘can do’ attitude with a strong customer service focus
  • Strong communication skills to be able to explain and fix issues with non-technical users over the phone and face to face
  • Be a problem solver and act in a timely manner when you have competing priorities
  • 2-3 years commercial experience in Level 1/2 help desk and desktop support is ideal and some experience administering servers and network equipment in a corporate environment for up to 120 people
  • Experience in supporting network peripherals (e.g. network printers, videoconferencing)
  • Proven experience in imaging and deployment of laptops and desktops
  • Knowledge and practical hands-on experience with Windows 7, MS Office 2010, Lync 2010 and SharePoint 2013
  • Ability to work with little direct supervision and adapt and work to changing timelines.
