About the business and the role

We are a rapidly growing cloud-based software development company focused on building next-generation tools for accountants and auditors.  We pride ourselves on building and managing high performance, market leading solutions for our global markets.  We currently have clients in Australia, UK, Europe and the USA. 

In this role you will lead the development team to build high performance, scalable web applications.  Working across the entire software stack, you will participate in the development and the delivery of the Company’s cloud-based solutions.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated team player and be able to demonstrate strong technical horsepower and experience leading the technical direction of the agile development team.  This is a very hands-on role and you will also be involved at the coding level.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide day to day technical leadership to the dev team driving software best practice through mentoring and example
• Provide input and expertise into the architecture, design and technical governance of the Company’s applications
• Establish responsible deadlines and personal work plans for dev team members
• Mentor and coach team members to improve their analytical, technical and collaborative skills
• Maintain team Jira boards
• Ensure continuous improvement of processes and process automation
• Participation and management of peer code reviews
• Manage and be actively involved in the production deployment

Essential:

• 3+ years’ experience in a similar role
• Rock solid in-depth knowledge and applied experience of OOP and current software design patterns.
• Designed and developed commercial grade applications using the LAMP stack
• Designed and developed commercial grade REST API’s
• Database design and development
• Good understanding of security best practice
• Experience developing software in TDD environment and development of automated tests
• Experienced developing and deploying applications to the Google Cloud Platform
• Hands-on experience in continuous integration and delivery tools
• Excellent communication skills, technical and non-technical
