We are currently looking for a Business Analyst (5 x positions across a variety of ICT projects) for an initial 6 month contract working with Brisbane City Council in Brisbane CBD. This will suit a Business Analyst with a good experience with formal business process management tools and approaches such as BPMN, IBM Blueworks Live, BPM/BPI Methods.The Project:
Successful applicants for this role will be assigned to variety of ICT related projects within the 2018/19 ICT Program of Work.
Responsiblities:
- Provide expert advice and guidance to the Project stakeholders (both Business representatives and project Team)
- Liaise with Business stakeholders to elicit, clarify and document business requirements and validate detailed requirements (functional and technical)
- Liaise with technical consultants and Vendors (as applicable) to understand product functionality and/or viable solution options which may influence analysis (the Business Analyst is not expected to determine or design solutions)
- Review and Validate any previous analysis work
- Determine and agree analysis approach and methodology with Business Analysis and Testing Practice Lead and communicate to Project Manager
- Identify business analysis tasks and obtain endorsement from the Business Analysis and Testing Practice Lead; communicate tasks to Project Manager (for updating of project schedule)
- Plan, schedule and facilitate stakeholder meetings and workshops to gather requirements
- Determine form and format of the required business analysis artefacts and obtain endorsement from Business Analysis and Testing Practice Lead
- Actively and constructively participate in Peer Review of business analysis activities and artefacts (Peer Reviewer to be nominated by Business Analysis and Testing Practice Lead)
- Obtain "Approved for Release' Sign-off of business analysis artefacts from the Business Analysis and Testing Practice Lead, prior to release to Project Manager
- Monitor progress of business analysis tasks and notify Project/Change Manager of any time or cost variations
- Monitor progress of business analysis tasks and notify the Business Analysis and Testing Practice Lead of any methodology or process issues that may impact of successful completion of deliverables
Requirements:
- Demonstrated project experience and the ability to contribute to delivering project outcomes on time and within budget.
- Highly developed interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to negotiate, consult, coordinate and deliver substantial business analysis and solution conceptualisation in a large, diverse and complex organisation.
- Superior written communication skills with demonstrated ability to author comprehensive, clear, concise, and contractually robust documents for both business and technical audiences.
- Expert analytical and diagnostic skills, together with the ability to apply that knowledge and experience to the areas of process analysis, cost benefits analysis and business systems analysis, in order to identify opportunities for improved services and creative solutions.
- Extensive experience in the evaluation and assessment of tender and contract documentation, including evaluation of vendor responses.
- Demonstrated high level ability to establish and grow collaborative relationships building trust and providing reliability, with staff from varying technical disciplines, and with customers, suppliers, project managers and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated extensive experience in preparing high quality business analysis artefacts such as business requirements, functional requirements, process maps and models, business rules, business cases, options papers and test scenarios.
- Demonstrated ability to understand business needs and established business processes.
- Ability to understand the business climate and how and where systems and applications impede enhance business agility all within the context of the enterprise business architecture and technical architecture.
- Ability to contribute to team direction, give and receive feedback and achieve agreed performance standards in order to contribute to a culture of performance excellence.
- Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to extensively analyse business processes and workflows.
- Demonstrated experience in business process analysis/improvement/design using BPMN notation and recognised BPI and business analysis methodologies including preparing documentation to inform solution design and business implementation.
- Demonstrated highly developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to negotiate, influence and liaise with a range of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in the delivery of quality business process improvement initiatives.
