This is an exciting opportunity to join Nine’s Technology department and shape the future of our digital video platforms.
 
We are building an agile software development team responsible for optimizing and centralizing all our video delivery workflows. Nine is transitioning to an integrated media company, and the team will be key to executing this vision.
 
You will be working in a small but highly capable team of engineers, alongside architects and BA’s, to shape and influence this essential solution for the video platform. We believe in “You build it, you own it”, taking team responsibility for all things from development to production. We work in an iterative fashion, and you will be setting goals and phases as we move along with the rest of the team.
 
Strong sense of collaboration, communication, and excellent software engineering principles are key for this role. You will be rewarded with a great company culture, and lots of creative freedom to drive this project to success.
 
 
Essential experience and skills:

• Minimum 4 years of experience in Java.
• Experience with enterprise integration techniques such as event queues (RabbitMQ) etc.
• Experience with service oriented architectures and RESTful web services
• Advanced Relational Database Design/SQL skills
• Agile software practices, such as Continuous Integration/CD
• Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical staff, including good presentation skills

 
Desirable experience and skills:

• AWS or equivalent cloud infrastructure.
• Experience working with Mulesoft, Ansible, Groovy.
• Knowledge of video encoding and delivery technologies.
• Knowledge of Node.js/Ruby on rails
• React or equivalent front-end framework
