The role:

As a Data Centre Technician, you will be part of a team that is at the core of our Equinix Operations department, providing 7/24/365 support to the Data Centre and conducting circuit maintenance, installations and advanced testing. You will also be responsible for the daily upkeep and operation readiness of Equinix’s IDC environment.

Responsibilities:

Installations

• Installs ladder racks and fiber raceways
• Builds/Installs cages
• Installs cable management/support systems to include vertical wire managers, horizontal wire managers, and patch panels
• Performs intra-cage and infrastructure installations
• Installs and grounds cabinets and two-post racks

Queue Management

• Escalates SRs that require additional information
• Testing/Troubleshooting
• Conducts carrier circuit testing
• Cross Connects
• Installs/Tests/Modifies cross connects per SOPs and ensures proper cable management of: coax, fiber, twisted pair copper, and intra-building cross connects

Documentation/Reporting

• Maintains accurate notes and records of activity fulfillment in ticketing system
• Projects
• Supports fulfillment of projects with direction from senior staff

Training

• Completes all assigned training in a timely manner
• Customer Management
• Supports customer satisfaction through timely and precise orders

Requirements/Qualifications

• 1+ years working experience
• Willingness to work a 24/7 shift rota that includes day and night shifts
• A keen interest in data centre’s, IT, or engineering etc.
• Strong Customer Service Skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team is essential
