Intercontinental Exchange is seeking a Network Engineer (NE) to join our existing NetOps team. The NE will be responsible for troubleshooting and handling network requests/issues assigned to them or that are escalated by the Network Analysts. NetOps monitors and supports the global Intercontinental Exchange network and as such, speed of response and efficient resolution is of utmost importance. The NE will also need to perform alarm monitoring, case creation and updating, contacting vendors and speaking to customers. The team has a can do attitude and this role is for someone who has a desire to progress their career as a network engineer.
Responsibilities
- Act as escalation point for Network Analysts
- Give priority to monitoring high-impact Incidents
- Records and Handles Incidents and Service Requests
- Route, categorize, prioritize and escalate incidents and service requests
- Actively Monitor and React to System Events, Alerts and Monitoring Tools
- Incident investigation, diagnosis, and service restoration
- Act as owner of cases and ensure proper follow-up internally and externally until resolution
- Escalate to senior management where appropriate
- Monitor, track and communicate with other teams to progress incident resolution
- Signals trends for ways to prevent future problems and alert management to emerging trends in incidents
- Ability to manage time in order to juggle multiple requirements during the work day
- Continually analyze and suggest improvements on network performance and design
- Logical and effective approach to problem-solving and identification of the root cause(s) of a problem
- Must be able to work weekends as part of a shift rotation
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- CCNP or JNCIS equivalent level of knowledge
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to work on a team or in an individual setting
- Self-starter type of individual, willing to take on tasks and ask for help when needed
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Multicast
- Experience with Linux
- Palo Alto / F5 / Juniper experience
- Good phone etiquette and the ability to diffuse agitated situations
- Excellent customer service attitude
- Ability to operate effectively and professionally under pressure
- Ability to collaborate with a variety of personalities and skillsets, and improve the quality of IT processes
