About the role:
This is an opportunity to work within a dynamic operational team in a complex environment working with cloud based solutions and assisting with cloud design strategies. You will also be responsible for application deployment management, monitoring and incident management.
You will play a key role in businesses cloud transformation strategy. In this role you will need to demonstrate extensive experience supporting applications in a high availability production environment.
Duties:
- Automation of application deployment and continuous delivery processes
- Adhere to the change control process for all application and associated services
- Contributing to the cloud transformation strategy
- Implementing cloud based transformation initiatives
- Deployment of application maintenance and enhancement releases
- Documentation, support and maintenance functions
- Monitoring and reporting on application service availability
- Installing and configuring web and middleware systems, patches and upgrades
- Implementing new applications and associated objects
- Conducting all aspects of performance monitoring and tuning of applications, web and middleware services
- Ensuring that all systems within responsibility meet minimum security requirements
- Contributing to the development of policies and procedures governing corporate applications
- Develop processes to ensure work produced is of a high quality, adds value and meets agreed service levels
- Communicate with application and business users any enhancements in technologies
- Managing backup and DR for all web and middleware servers
- Capacity planning and management
- Software architecture and design for key projects and initiatives.
- Continuously improve yourself and others
- Build trust and transparency through collaboration and communication
- Work closely with key project stakeholders to delivery key outcomes
- Bridge solution architecture and software architecture
- Contributes to incident and problem management across supplier partners and internal FCTP teams
- Maintain compliance posture across systems
- Maintain documentation to ensure retention of Intellectual Property (IP) including technical diagrams
- Provides input to disaster recovery, high availability, rapid restoration of services through involvement in business impact assessment and business continuity planning
Essential Skills & Experience:
- At least five (5) years’ experience supporting applications in a high availability production environment
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Facilitation of architecture reviews and design sessions
- Worked in an Agile environment
- Strong Linux System Administration experience, CentOS / RedHat preferred
- Experience administering/troubleshooting the following:
- Apache / Nginx / PHP stacks
- Apache / Tomcat / JBoss stacks / Wildfly Swarm
- Experience using/configuring the following:
- Provisioning tools (Puppet / Saltstack / etc)
- Server/application monitoring tools (Splunk / Cacti / Nagios)
- Strong understanding of the following:
- Website performance troubleshooting / caching strategies
- Scripting languages (one or more of BASH / PHP / Python / etc)
- HTTP protocol
- Load balancers (stickiness / SSL)
- Basic network services (DNS / SSH / SMTP / etc)
Desirable
- Containerisation – (Docker, Rocket)
- Container orchestration – (Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, Mesos)
- Experience using Amazon Web Services - predominately EC2 / VPS / ELB / S3
- PHP Frameworks/CMSs – Symfony / Drupal / ExpressionEngine / Wordpress
- NoSQL Databases – memcached / redis / mongo
- IIS / .NET Framework
- Code management tools (GIT/SVN)
- New Relic / Catchpoint / Status Cake / Pingdom
- Maven / Jenkins / Team City / Nexus / Sonar Qube / Rundeck
- Relevant university degree and/or industry qualification
Desirables:
