The Organisation

Airservices is a government owned organisation providing safe, secure, efficient and environmentally responsible services to the aviation industry.
Each year we manage over four million aircraft movements carrying more than 156 million passengers, and provide air navigation services across 11 per cent of the world’s airspace.
Airservices has two major operating centres in Melbourne and Brisbane and a corporate office in Canberra. We operate 29 air traffic towers at international and regional airports, and provide aviation rescue fire fighting services at 26 Australian airports.

Over the past two years we have undergone a number of exciting changes, including the establishment an Information Management and Data Services (IM&DS) Group led by our CIO. Which, in turn, has enabled a wider range of opportunities, including:

  • We are moving towards becoming a broker, integrator and orchestrator of technology services which may be sourced internally or from business partners.
  • We are bringing together and integrating our traditional Operational and Enterprise (OT/IT) technologies.
  • We have a large change program and our technology landscape is evolving rapidly.

The Role

As an important function within the overall IT governance function, the Portfolio Management Office (PMO) Manager is responsible for supporting and enabling the IT Services Portfolio of programs, projects, and structured work efforts.

As the PMO Manager you will be responsible for various methods and practices in the delivery of IT Services Portfolio into the business, improving the overall portfolio maturity, and tracking and reporting of performance. You will ensure that the work of the PMO adds value, is relevant to the strategy, and meets the goals set for the PMO by executive management.

You will also play an integral leadership role for Airservices in shaping the performance of our Information Management and Data Services (IM&DS) Group.

The Person

To be considered for this role you will possess a deep understanding of the major functions, capabilities and challenges across typical business and technology functions and this will be evident through your previous career roles and/or major initiatives that you have been involved in.

You will have a record of success as a leader in a large and complex organisation and a track record as an agent of change in challenging environments and possess a distinctive blend of business, IT, financial and communication skills as this is a highly visible position with substantial impact.

Skills and Experience

The successful applicant will have:

  • Professional qualifications in Program/Project delivery
  • Working knowledge of relevant tools (SAP; Project Server), industry frameworks (COBIT; ITIL) and project management methodologies (PMBOK, PRINCE2 and agile)
  • A minimum of ten years’ experience in Program/Project delivery
