As Zendesk has grown over the past ten years, we have continued to innovate and expand our product suite. Our Melbourne office is home to the Data Products Team who build Machine Learning powered products such as Answer Bot, Content Cues andSatisfactionPrediction. We are now seeking an Engineering Team Lead to join us, help nurture these products and grow the impact Machine Learning has on our business. In this role you’ll provide team leadership, growth and support. In addition, you’ll work as a code contributing Engineer in Ruby, Scala, Python or Javascript.

As a Team Lead, you’ll collaborate with Data Science, Product, Design, and Ops to drive product innovation, research and development, working closely with the other teams locally and across the world.

This is a hands-on role, where you’ll spend a good portion of your day in the codebase with the rest working on process improvement initiatives, mentoring and guiding the team’s workflow.

Previous experience leading a team is not essential for this role, as you will be supported by an engineering leader and peer Team Leads. What you bring to the role:

  • A Senior Developer/Engineer level of experience (your title isn’t that relevant to us).
  • Enthusiasm for building Machine Learning and data driven product.
  • A background in shipping high-quality web applications.
  • Truly great communication and collaboration skills.
  • A passion for sustaining a healthy and effective work environment.
  • A team first mentality.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience building Machine Learning powered products.
  • Experience with Ruby, Python, Scala or Javascript.
  • Experience building data intensive applications.
  • Working at really big (think global!) scale.
  • Commercial AWS knowledge.
