Position Summary
Reporting to the Applications Support Lead, the Applications Support Engineer will play an important role, ensuring our tier one applications are operating well across our IT infrastructure.  The role has a global focus therefore requiring extensive engagement across our IT teams and customers in demonstrating the value of IT to the broader business.

Key responsibilities including the following (however not limited to):

  • Proactive application monitoring of key applications and end-to-end infrastructure components
  • Prioritise incidents and problems to ensure highly available applications and the security of our data
  • Ensure changes to the application are thoroughly tested before being released into a production environment
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills with proven experience of ownership of incidents and problems – ‘owning the problem’
  • An excellent customer centric attitude
  • Proven experience educating the business on IT concepts
  • Good analytical and report writing skills
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to communicate positively with people at all levels.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a regional and/or global IT team
  • Proven experience as an engineer in an ICT environment implementing and supporting software and hardware systems
  • Provide feedback to improve existing knowledge management and support continuous improvement
  • Ensure preventative actions are put into place to ensure repetitive incidents are minimised

The position requires excellent troubleshooting skills, placing our customer’s first.   Working with our customers, IT and third parties the role will quickly triage, resolve incidents and problems.  Our aim is to prevent similar incidents from reoccurring across our core applications.  Providing education and documentation to our customers will be paramount.

About You
You will have proven troubleshooting skills and a minimum 2 years’ experience working on a customer’s IT challenges. You will demonstrate a natural curiosity and eagerness to participate in the business with a positive, can-do attitude. You work well under pressure, are a strong and positive communicator, relish a challenge, are self-motivated and have a strong focus on achieving business value.

Education Required:

  • Information technology or Business Degree preferred
