Our client is looking for a talented, capable and driven individual to play a key role working in their growing Business Intelligence team across multiple projects. Supporting the Business Intelligence Specialist and Data Modeller, the Business Intelligence Data Analyst/Tester will be expected to interrogate data sets from a variety of sources, with the aim of documenting patterns, taxonomy, and natural relationships with in each dataset. Further the Business Intelligence Data Analyst/Tester will need to understand how each data set can be related to other datasets.
The Business Intelligence Data Analyst/Tester will be expected to test business intelligences products and artefacts such as access layer database objects, reports and cubes to ensure high quality product delivery.
The successful applicant will
  • Have advanced data literacy skills, with the ability to review data sets, determine and link dependencies, identify inconsistencies, determine the cause of problems and identify remedies.
  • Be able to manipulate data using SQL.
  • Possess excellent analytical skills.
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing to a variety of stakeholders.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Applying a technical understanding of data structures to extract, structure and analyse data using a range of software tools.
  • Analysing large and complex data-sets to identify behavioural patterns, trends or anomalies and preparing a range of statistical reports.
  • Test planning and execution – ensuring defects are appropriately understood and triaged.
  • Referring identified issues for investigation and ensuring results are utilised in future identification activities.
  • Liaising with external agencies and negotiating supply of data to our client; and in collaboration with investigation teams, contribute to the development of automated or streamlined processes to enable rapid detection of non-compliance.
To be a strong contender for this role you will have a forensic mindset, be resilient, adept at analysing data to resolve complex issues and able to work collaboratively in a small team to achieve organisational goals.
 
To be successful in this role, you will have strong skills and experience in the following:  
  • Demonstrated expertise in analysing raw data sets from a variety of sources and having a diverse format.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of master data management, data processing, matching and management systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in using the Microsoft Business tools set as well as test planning and execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse issues and make sound judgements and recommendations.
  • Well developed written and oral communication skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or professional qualifications in mathematics/statistics, science, computer science or equivalent disciplines.
