Organisational Context

The Australian Orthopaedic Association National Joint Replacement Registry (AOANJRR) is the largest procedure registry within Australia. It monitors the outcome of all arthroplasty procedures nationally. This includes hip, knee, shoulder, elbow, wrist, ankle and spinal disc replacement. It is owned and managed by the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA) and permanently funded by the Commonwealth Government under contract with the AOA.   

Position Purpose

Working closely with the Research Project Team, the position is responsible for providing a broad range of project coordination services to support the implementation a new trial.

This will be the first AOANJRR trial of this kind and will build capacity, knowledge and resources to deliver further. The AOANJRR will seek to leverage existing relationships with surgeons, hospitals, providers and existing PROMs data collection by individual surgeons and organisations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the Research Project Team, undertake a range of project coordination duties.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the project including acting as the first point of contact in relation to project progress and objectives.
  • Build and sustain relationships with an extensive network of internal and external stakeholders to support project objectives.
  • Monitor and provide support to the data collection sites (i.e. hospitals) including responding to queries, providing training on data collection software and procedures.
  • Prepare, submit and maintain records of ethics applications for various committees including hospital approval processes.
  • Identify and implement strategies to enhance the recruitment, management and retention of participating hospitals and surgeons.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated experience across a range of business and research support related functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop clear project plans and timelines, monitor project progress within budget and required standards and the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders.
  • Highly-developed verbal and interpersonal skills including the ability to influence outcomes to achieve objectives with key stakeholders across all levels.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing briefings and reports for a wide range of audiences.
  • Highly developed organisational skills to establish priorities, allocate resources and meet tight deadlines.
