About the role
The Opmantek engineering team is looking for a Software Engineer working with Linux and Server and Network Management products, to be a part of our growing global team. The position can be based in our Gold Coast or Brisbane offices.
Remuneration is flexible based on experience and Opmantek is open to a wide variety of flexible working conditions and hours, along with fantastic office locations close to public transport. The position is reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer, the role of will commence immediately on a permanent or contract basis.
The team is product oriented primarily developing in Perl, PHP, JavaScript with some C/C++. We work with large datasets of real time data, which involve great software engineering problems to solve, simplifying our software to benefit our customers.
The role requires:
- Interfacing with IT devices (servers, routers, switches), using IP based protocols (SNMP, WMI, NetConf, HTTPS, SSH, RESTful API's, NetFlow, IPFIX).
- Collecting the required data for analysis, reporting, real-time thresholding and alerting.
Projects consist of backend modules primarily written in Perl using C / C++ where necessary to bind to library modules. The modules share access to a database and files on a Linux server. The frontend is written in JavaScript using various frameworks to deliver excellent user experience.
Required Skills
- 5 years plus experience in professional software development
- HTML5
- JavaScript (including jQuery, and one or more frameworks like Backbone or React).
- Experience with RESTful API's
- Experience in Object Oriented Programming
- Strong programming skills in 2 or more languages like:
- Perl
- Python
- Ruby
- C / C++ / C#
- Go Lang
- Java
- MongoDB
- MySQL / MariaDB
- Development in a Unix/Linux environment
- Strong debugging skills
- Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English.
