Due to continued growth and the winning of several major contracts, our client has a requirement for a full-time Business Development Manager, based in their Melbourne offices. We are looking to speak to exceptional people with a passion for technology, and a proven work history in developing new business and providing exceptional advisory services to clients. 

The primary purpose of the role is to drive sales growth across specified lines of business, within a defined client base or territory. The secondary role is to retain and maintain the existing customer base. The BDM has accountability for driving renewal and sales activities directly with customers by developing long term relationships and working with the appropriate internal bid teams and building alliances with key partners and vendors. 

You will be required to manage and execute the account management process, and articulate a solid understanding of our customer's IT capabilities, value propositions and competitive positioning whilst building a new network in all accounts. You will lead the implementation of the overall engagement strategy in your territory through managing customer contact frequency, renewal and new proposals development, cross selling prospecting and closing new business.

Main Duties and Responsibilities Include:


  • Plan and prioritise personal account management activities towards achieving agreed business aims, including sales - especially managing personal time and productivity. 
  • To represent the interests of the organisation in the renewal and sale of outsourcing services, hardware, maintenance, software and other products.
  • Plan and manage your territory according to an agreed account engagement strategy. 
  • To develop and implement customer account plans that will result in the agreed outcome
  • Professional Account Management of ongoing contracted client relationships as requested.
  • Plan and support local marketing activities
  • Ensures customer expectation are being delivered as per our contracted obligations
  • Qualify new opportunities according to agreed market strategies and target markets objectives
  • Respond to customer enquiries using appropriate methods.
  • Attend and present at external customer meetings and internal meetings with other company functions necessary to perform duties and aid business development. 
  • Attend training and to develop relevant knowledge, techniques and skills. 
  • To maintain the highest standards of professionalism through effective communication, teamwork, attention to detail (such as timely forecasting and monthly business review reporting), high ethical standards, and a commitment to achieve good business results.
  • Identifying sales leads and passing these onto other departments where you are not able to assist (or you are not the appropriate person to follow-up)
  • Producing reports on your activities including real-time sales forecasts
Skills and Experience Required:


  • 5+ years of sales experience
  • Experience and knowledge of the IT procurement, Services & Infrastructure sector, preferably in Victoria
  • Proven customer relationship building and management skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills, with an emphasis on innovative and creative solutions that result in client satisfaction
  • Outstanding sales qualification skills with proven ability to negotiate and close beneficial solutions for all parties 
  • Self-starter who needs little direction and works autonomously with C level management
