The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Support Officer to join our Regional and Remote Services Division to provide support for our field-based Contractors during the installation and maintenance of Satellite Broadband and Fixed Wireless services.

This is a predominately a phone based role and would suit candidates who are technically minded and who also enjoy the challenges of troubleshooting. We have a small, friendly and supportive Technical Support Team who are looking for a superstar problem solver who can anticipate our Contractors needs.

Your key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical support for Contractors via phone/email during the field installation and maintenance of 1-way and 2-way Satellite and Fixed Wireless services;
  • Provide Contractors with appropriate HSE&Q advise where required;
  • Escalate complex network issues to external client support teams (NOCs);
  • Ensure accurate and timely handling of inbound/outbound calls and requests from Contractors and internal/external stakeholders;
  • Providing technical advice on complex telecommunication network installations;
  • Handle installation related complaints, re-educating technicians, as required;
  • Conduct lab testing and configuring VSAT’s, as required;
  • Provision network simulations to analyse installation related issues, reporting findings accordingly; and
  • Perform site audits and QA checks and testing of faulty hardware, as required.

To be successful in the role you will possess:

  • Relevant technical qualification or equivalent work experience in Telecommunications infrastructure;
  • White Card/ Red Card (Construction Induction OH&S);
  • Open cabling license is (desirable);
  • Working at Heights Certificate (desirable);
  • At least one years’ experience working in the Telecommunications Industry in a similar role;
  • Knowledge of one way and two-way satellite systems;
  • Knowledge of cable patching systems; and
  • Proficient computer skills/IP Networking.
