In this Java Tech Lead role you will take a lead role in coordinating technical skill sets and facilitating, planning and managing in close consultation with the project manager the estimates, delivery schedules, assigned technical resources and technical tasks associated with the assigned small to medium sized project(s), SITE and/or BAU activities.
Create work packages for offshore developers and/or IT vendors and ensure that all delivered technology solutions adhere to best practice security, compliance, and design principles. Mentor and assist developers assigned to the same project to ensure they deliver quality technology solutions that are fit for purpose.
Contribute to, influence and monitor key elements of the development and deployment of the Technical Solution.
Where required provide out of hours and offsite support to production applications to an agreed schedule.
Minimum/preferred job requirements:
- Bachelor, Technical Degree or Tertiary qualifications in Technology or related discipline, or 8+ years’ experience in application development.
- Excellent knowledge of and experience in more than one software language
- 8+ years' commercial experience of working within software development projects preferably in Insurance or Financial industry
- 3+ years’ experience in software design and architecture
- 2+ Team leadership experience
- Methodology - Agile (Scrum) & Waterfall
Mandatory Tech Stack experience required:
- JAVA/JEE
- Spring3.x, Spring MVC, JPA, Hibernate, Spring Data
- AngularJS, JSP, JSF, AJAX, JQUERY, HTML5, CSS3
- Webservice experience using JAX-WS and RESTful web services
- IDEs –IntelliJ, Eclipse, RAD
- Application servers - IBM WAS 8.x
- Source code repositories - GIT, SVN
- JIRA/Rally and other tracking tools
- Experience with Databases such as DB2/Oracle
