Your New Company

We are a small, privately owned company, started some 20 years ago, based in East Maitland, adjacent the Greenhills shopping centre. Our company is part drafting services and part drawing management and document distribution systems. The drawing management side of the business is continuing to grow our cloud and on-site drawing management systems while introducing new systems. To add, we are a flexible and friendly team, looking to continue expanding in the future.

Your New Role

The position is for a developer to come on board to continue developing existing systems and produce new systems. The plan will be to have you as our sole developer who can assist the business in moving away from outsourced IT support. Although you will have our existing outsourced IT support to assist you in understanding the history of the work complete.

The role will require you to:

• Continue to tailor our current software systems
• Develop new systems
• Work with our experienced staff to meet the demands of our clients
• You will be based in the same offices as all our staff, so you will be able to constantly bounce questions off us on desired outcomes

You will also be required to do non-developer work:

• Assist with the installation of new systems on client servers – typically this is remotely
• You will need to do CAD based drafting using AutoCad LT, which we can train you in – this is not likely to be often, but will help you understand the other side of the business and our client needs which will in-turn help with understanding of some of our IT systems
• Assist with maintaining our websites
• Assist with our future SEO plans
• Familiarise yourself with our current IT systems and assist in the day to day operations
• Familiarise yourself with our VBA scripting process
• Assist with populating our drawing management system (FifiDocs) for new clients. Using overseas outsourcing and visual basic scripting of which we will teach you
• Assist with visual basic coding
• Writing manuals on system setup and use

This position is a 38hr per week, 12-month contract, with the possibility of extension, for a developer to come on board to help give our business more independence from external support companies. To begin with we would like to do a brief 2-week casual trail to make sure we are both happy with the work involved.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

• 2 years experience in web technologies development including C# / ASP .NET and SQL Server
• Knowledge of, and experience with structured application design and development techniques
• Analytic problem-solving skills
• Experience integrating managed and unmanaged libraries
• Relational databases and interfaces
• Independent thinker that provides alternative solutions to problems
• Awareness of and experience with test driven development techniques is desired
• Strong communication skills
• Be either a permanent resident or citizen
