NEC are currently seeking a Senior Technical Lead – Cloud, to provide technical direction and leadership for NECs cloud infrastructure hosting platforms with a focus on automation and service delivery of stable and scalable platforms of defined services within SLAs and performance metrics

This is a ‘hands on’ role with a focus on Service Ownership and Technical Leadership, building and delivering automated solutions out of our Cloud Platform.

Duties and Responsibilities

Service Ownership 

• Provide technical leadership to deliver the defined services
• Utilise metrics to drive change and evolve services to meet customer requirements

Technical Leadership

• Provide technical support to the TDM and drive the supporting teams to deliver to the Platform Services team.
• Provide technical leadership within projects to keep project on time and budget, particularly regarding project plans, time allocations, identifying project risks and assumptions
• Deliver relevant technical solutions, lead technical best practices and be responsible for technical governance for projects and support services
• Provide technical leadership and support for the entire methodology processes relating to project lifecycles and support lifecycles
• Mentor team members where applicable
• Be an initial point of contact to triage and lead resolution for major incidents and be a primary escalation resource for technical issues
• Provide technical review of the solution for Solution Review Panels (SRPs)
• Provide detailed designs for solutions using the cloud platforms services
• Provide detailed designs for the underlying cloud platforms
• Drive automation and orchestration into every process and support activities for Cloud Service
• Work with the Automation team to automate the operational and provisioning tasks
• Work closely with Solutions Manager for services delivered by the team, particularly Cloud and DC infrastructure.
• Provide timely and accurate documentation of work performed
• Drive Automation and Orchestration across support teams to deliver efficiencies
• Understand the customers problem statement for the services delivered by the Cloud Platforms team 
• Drive consistency within solutions to delivery cost savings
• Lead, advise and drive efficiencies within the platforms – both technically and operationally to lower the unit price of the services  

The position requires working closely with a small, committed team of project and operations engineers.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.  
• Minimum 8 years of experience in a relevant IT position
• Experience building for private and public cloud.  
• Understand the nature of the cloud – its massive scale and the imperative to automate in every aspect of the development cycle.  
• Sound understanding of what it takes to have a production ready solution and operate in a DevOps model.
• Solid understanding of the UNIX/Linux/Windows operating systems  
• Proven record of working independently
• Experience with working in an outsourcing environment and customer support environment
• Experience in Agile development environments 
• Experienced in PowerShell
• Experience with automated deployments and source code / configuration management tools - GitHub, CPO, OO, AWS, Azure, Jenkins, Chef, Ansible, Puppet, etc.
