Due to internal promotion of the previous incumbent an exciting opportunity has arisen to lead the growth of a globally recognised data management solution for the mining industry is currently available at MICROMINE. As Product Strategy Manager for Geobank, you will be entrusted with planning, executing and evaluating the product’s vision, market position and development direction to achieve business objectives.
This is done by working intimately with the executive management, software development, marketing, operations and sales staff, both locally and internationally as well as clients and relevant industry groups. Critically, the successful applicant must have strong leadership skills and demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with and influence various, diverse stakeholders. This includes reporting and presenting to the company’s Board of Directors.
Core responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery, implementation and evaluation of the product strategy and work with technical staff to translate strategy into the product road map
- Foster and advance the product vision and market position by keeping abreast of global market trends, competitor products, client needs and innovation
- Work closely with the development team during detailed design and implementation
- Contribute to marketing and market release plans, providing technical boundaries for market research and segmentation
- Assist in alignment of sales tools
- Coordinate and liaise with Product Strategy Managers for Micromine and Geobank on product integration
- Travel domestically and internationally as required. Represent the product and company at trade shows, industry and client meetings
- Promote the product and company through development of white papers, journal articles and presentations at conferences
Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in IT, geoscience, database administration or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience with data management solutions – implementation, support, design and/or analysis
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in product management
- Previous experience using, or a detailed understanding of Geobank (formerly GBIS) or similar solutions
- Leadership and ability to influence
- Excellent people management and conflict resolution skills
- Elite written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of mining and database processes
