Support a leading Defence organisation on a 12 month assignment as Powershell Scripting Specialist / Automation Lead.
You will be responsible for developing and maintaining software configuration management tools, specifically VMWare automation and orchestration tools to support configuration identification, control, reporting, and delivery of both internally developed and externally purchased commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software products.
Duties include:
- Perform configuration management and release engineering tasks to ensure new software product operating parameters are documented, comply with standard hardware configurations, and are logistically sustainable.
- Design, develop, automate, and maintain productivity tools using programming, database or scripting languages to improve software modeling and development.
- Design and implement build procedures that are used to support software product development and use.
- Develop software configuration standards and policies for company-wide use.
- Maintain the Software Configuration Management System including collection or distribution of code documentation, problem report and change request processing, software build documents, and delivery of software products to operational environments.
- Implement long term organizational objectives for software process improvement (e.g., SEI CMM), compliance with ISO 9000 standards, and software code reuse.
About you and what you'll bring
- Demonstrated experience working within an IT or project environment is essential;
- PowerCLI scripting
- Proven experience with Powershell scripting
- Experience with Rest API
- Knowledge of midrange Operating Systems
- Prior vRealize Automation/vCloud Automation Center/vCloud Director experience
- Microsoft System Centre orchestrator
- Cloud Infrastructure and Architecture Design experience
- Experience with IaaS/PaaS/XaaS/SaaS
- Experience deploying mission critical apps
- Knowledge of SCCM/Sattelite/IPAM etc integration with vRA or any other 3rd party apps or OS's
- Orchestration experience with any platform
- Application Packaging
- Experience with ITSM Solutions: ServiceNow
