Working in this dynamic, innovative, fast-paced environment you will have the opportunity to grow and develop within a high performing team as a Senior DBA.
 
You will be responsible for the installation, administration, monitoring, maintenance and security of our client’s corporate databases, as well as contributing to improvements in database standards, guidance, procedures and best practice.
 
Reporting into the Senior Manager (Application Support), your primary responsibilities will include:

• Providing support for the investigation and resolution of problems concerning corporate application databases
• Monitoring and optimising the performance of application databases to meet performance and service level agreements.
• Maintaining the database installations and configurations in all development, QA and production environments
• Assisting with capacity and performance planning.
• Assisting with vendor support and license management.
• Participating in DBA tasks, e.g. upgrades, installations, backup and recovery, tuning, performance monitoring, day-to-day support. Meet availability and capacity targets for corporate databases. Maintain corporate databases to meet customer requirements.
• Participating in development of corporate databases to meet requirements of new initiatives. Provide advice and guidance on database technology for new business systems.

To be considered, the skills and experience required include: 

• Tertiary qualifications in Information Systems, Computer Science or relevant discipline
• 10+ experience as a Database Administrator using Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server including high availability technologies
• Data architecture and modelling experience in complex applications integration environments.
• Proficient knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Programming experience
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Desire to build on existing skills base
• Flexibility and desire to learn new technologies

Experience in any of the following areas is desirable:

• MySQL
• PostgreSQL
• Cassandra
• Oracle Rdb
• Netezza
• Working with Business Intelligence platforms
