THE OPPORTUNITY

NTT ICT have an exciting new opportunity for a Junior Presales Engineer to take the next step in their career!

You will report directly to the NSW Presales Manager and receive guidance and support from a senior Presales and Sales team and be instrumental in supporting the teams with continued growth in the region!

As a Junior Presales Engineer, you will be given the opportunity to meet with our existing customers and new prospects to create standard solutions that address their business requirements, as well as ensure that these solutions are deliverable by NTT ICT, with a focus on solution and commercial documentation.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

You will need to be a motivated self starter to be able to take ownership of the following:

  • Delivering quality, timely responses to customer requests
  • Qualifying technical requirements and key business drivers from our customers
  • Evaluating standard products/services and creating simple technical proposals including solution description, diagrams and pricing
  • Being NTT ICT's Subject Matter Expert for colocation products
  • Meeting with customers to explain technical solutions
  • Writing basic technical responses to RFP's and RFI's
  • Ensuring appropriate documentation (such as service schedules and order forms) are completed
  • Working with internal implementation teams to ensure they are correctly briefed
  • Maintaining a competitive and appropriate level of technical and professional competence, including on nominated products, and gaining relevant entry level technical certifications (with NTT's support!)
  • Managing relationships across the business including: SMEs, Service Delivery, Engineering, Project Management and Sales, together with vendors and partners.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO EXCEL

To excel in this role you will need to hold a relevant Engineering or IT degree and possess the following skills and experiences:

Essential Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years design experience, in the cloud, hosting or managed services industry
  • Cloud / data centre implementation experience
  • Presales exposure will be advantageous

Technical Skills:

  • Good understanding of the following technologies/services:
    • Datacentre colocation services (facilities, racks, cabling)
    • Telecommunication services (MPLS, Internet and global services)
    • Private cloud components

Commercial Skills:

  • Understanding of the sales cycle
  • Understanding of basic price modelling, capex vs opex, margin

Desirable Skills:

  • Understanding of basic financial constructs such as pricing, amortisation, contingency
  • Experience building complex solutions that include technologies such as:
    • x86 and blade server platforms (HPE, Oracle, Dell)
    • Virtualization technology (VMware, OVM)
    • Cross-vendor networking (routing, switching, VPN, load balancing, security & firewalls – Cisco, Juniper, F5, Cumulus, Mellanox)
    • Operating Systems (MS, RHEL, OEL, clustering, AD/LDAP)
    • Database (Oracle, Microsoft SQL)
    • Storage technologies and systems (NAS/SAN, performance, replication)
    • Backup and data protection (Veeam, Commvault)
