The Opportunity:

Ashurst Advance is a uniquely integrated global team that combines the three fundamental areas of legal service innovation: resources, process and technology. Ashurst Advance joins together the firm's existing 'new law' capabilities, establishing a clear and differentiated service proposition for our clients whilst creating a global platform for future innovation. Ashurst Advance consists of three core teams - Legal Analysts, Legal Technologists and Legal Project Managers, who work with each of our global practice areas across the firm's international network.The Legal Project Management team, part of Ashurst Advance, helps to drive greater transparency, predictability and certainty in legal matters through the provision of effective project management support.

We are now looking for a Head of Legal Project Management in Australia which will be a dual role. The first involves the leadership and management of the Australian team, and the second involves working closely with clients, partners, lawyers and business support staff to manage the efficient delivery of legal services.

Essential skills and experience:

• At least five years of project management experience in consultancy or professional services firms
• Track record of successfully implementing complex projects involving significant people-related changes
• Track record of managing high-performing teams (either project or operational teams)
• Excellent client facing skills along with a track record of establishing and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels
• Excellent presentation, written, communication and interpersonal skills
• Advanced organisational and influencing skills, flexibility of style, attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high pressured, detail-oriented environment
• High degree of initiative and independent judgment with excellent troubleshooting, decision-making and follow-through skills
• Experience of the whole project lifecycle and covering scoping, scheduling, costing, resourcing, communications, quality and risk
• Financial literary/understanding of professional firm financials and performance metrics
• Excellent IT skills, in particular Microsoft Project, Excel and PowerPoint
• APM, PMP or equivalent project management certifications
• Qualification in change management and process improvement such as PROSCI® and Lean Six Sigma

Desired skills and experience:

• MBA, MPM or equivalent post-graduate qualification
• Experience of working within the legal industry
• Project management of legal matters or legal-related initiatives
• Working with virtual teams in a global environment
• Training skills e.g., project management training sessions
