The Role

Reporting to the Head of Network Strategy, the Network Procurement Officer is responsible for administrative and operational support for the global procurement of infrastructure, network and colocation that underpin the Megaport platform.  The role encompasses a wide range of tasks to ensure that we deliver a network that balances prudent cost management without compromising the optimal network design.

As Megaport continues to expand its ecosystem, the Network Strategy team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Megaport’s future. In this role you combine your deep market knowledge with tech industry savvy to find solutions that support Megaport's global expansion. You have the potential to impact every part of the business and drive material savings in Megaport’s operating costs. You'll ensure that we receive contract compliance on our third-party agreements, while identifying the most cost-effective solutions for our needs. You'll assist on special projects, manage vendors and present your recommendations to the Head of Network Strategy.

What you will be doing 

• Raising of purchase orders (and pre-requisite business justifications) for network infrastructure and connectivity new commitments
• Working with the Director of DC Development to identify new market route requirements and cost estimates
• Consult with Network Engineering and gain approval on new route network design requirements and ensuring pre-defined specifications are met
• Preparation and issue of Request for Quotes (RFQ) for all new site connectivity requirements
• Manage preliminary communications with external vendors and prepare the response evaluation and recommendation to the Head of Network Strategy
• Drive contract execution with new third party suppliers supported by Megaport's in-house legal team.
• Internal contract execution and ensuring collection of fully executable contracts
• Ongoing review of upcoming out of contract services for leverage to recontract and drive cost savings
• Communicate progress internally using JIRA and collaborate with network deployment and other technical teams.  This involves end to end ownership from service order execution through to circuit delivery, including the creation and update of JIRA tickets for new links, including milestone reporting, accountability on delivery targets.
• Maintain and update internal resources including network diagrams
• Assist Finance with month end review to ensure all executed and delivered network costs are captured
• Ownership of the Megaport network KMZ including audit and review of existing circuits and ensuring all routes are up to date
• Ownership of the Megaport circuit database including audit and review of existing circuits and ensuring all routes are up to date

What we are looking for 

• BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Some experience in networking technologies across the OSI (Open Systems Interconnect) model preferred.
• 5 years of relevant work experience, including experience with contract development and vendor management across many vendors simultaneously in technology related domains.
• Experience in strategic consultations and/or business development obtaining services from technology providers in colocation data centers, internet transit, network transport and telecom services.
• Understanding of contractual framework, with the ability to discuss complex agreements with vendors/partners/suppliers.
• Understanding of domestic and global carrier networks.
• Ability to connect with industry executives to develop strategic relationships/initiatives.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
