Currently split in product lines, this team are using agile practices and processes to build new features and functionality for their in-house products.
 
About the role: 
Working in a small team of 6, this group are using new tools to build a scalable modular and extensible app. This role will be in charge of the API and will be overseeing and mentoring a small team of 3 developers.  Working closely with the business you’ll be looking at anything from security and compliance problems to researching and implementing new architecture that follows best practices.
 
You’ll enjoy designing and implementing reusable components and building robust high quality well documented code. You’ll be incorporating additional features with a focus on building extensible software.

• Shape the product by writing solid, clear and efficient code using Java (Spring) and some JavaScript (Angular)
• Ensure every added feature meets established performance goals
• Work very closely with other software engineers to provide guidance about architectural patterns and goals
• Work with MongoDb to better store data in a secure and performant way
• AWS including mostly EC2 and some exposure to Lambdas (API Gateway)
• Graph databases using Neo4JS

As an experienced senior developer you’ll have a strong understanding of Java development and a history of delivering web apps consuming Rest/SOAP services. You’ll have a good handle of best practices and always be looking to optimise performance and simplify processes.  Backend leaning, you’ll have a good handle on both relational and noSQL databases as well as cloud technologies like AWS.
 
You’ll understand TDD and have an excellent knowledge of and design and architecture patterns.   Comfortable leading a small team, you’ll have mentored people in the past and enjoy seeing teams grow professionally.
 
Requirements: 

• Commercial experience with Java and Spring
• A background working with SOAP or Rest Web Services
• Some experience with a JavaScript Framework – Angular, React etc
• A background in cloud technologies (AWS) or finance would be a bonus
