We are looking for a Software Developer to join our Smart Solutions data analytics team, consisting of Product Experts, Analysts, Engineers, Statisticians and Researchers.

Komatsu and their customers expect mining machines to perform non-stop. From our state of the art facility at Rutherford, we design analytics that process machine telemetry data in search of potentially critical issues. Our fleet of machines sends over 200,000 data points per second, from mine sites all around the globe and we process this data in near real-time to detect anomalous patterns or early signs of failure. These analytics range from simple logic checks to advanced statistical anomaly detection techniques, and into deep learning algorithms. Our entire infrastructure and IT is cloud-based and managed by another team in the U.S., so we in Australia can focus on the analytics and their execution.

Responsibilities:

Your main responsibilities will be to develop and maintain the Python code that interfaces with our infrastructure components and that supports the analytics’ execution.

You will also be part of the code-reviewing process of our analytics, ensuring there is a good fit between the algorithm, how it’s coded and the platform. Your objectives will be efficiency and performance.

Aside from these main responsibilities, expect a myriad of smaller projects covering: running jobs on our Spark cluster, helping others access our data warehouse, developing the website that displays analytics’ results and deploying models build using AI engines such as TensorFlow.

Requirements and Skills:

• A Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent demonstrated experience is an essential requirement to apply for this position.
  Students expected to graduate from one of these degrees in 2018 will also be considered.
• Experience with Python is highly desirable. Knowledge of Python analytics and plotting libraries (Pandas, SKLearn, NumPy) would also be favourable.
• Experience with Web frameworks would also be beneficial.
