A newly created position for a Software/Application Support Engineer has arisen at this global payments company.
You will be responsible for fault diagnosis and (functional and regression) testing of software for the companies products. You will also offer support to Service Technicians to identify and analyse customer issues, with the occasional customer site visit, as required, reproduce issues in testlab environments and support to software developers to identify and resolve bugs, and the delivery of testing outcomes, including conducting Systems Integration Testing (with our partners) and Production and Development support.
The role requires a high degree of support to peers. Excellent communication, problem solving skills and the ability to frame complex problems in simple terms are key to such a role.

Other responsibilities include (but not limited to):-
- The ability to cope with novel problems and situations, and to systematically apply engineering principles to frame the problem space and recommend appropriate solutions
- Support and troubleshooting of customer software issues
- Analysing customer incidents, identifying the root cause
- Occasional visits to customer venues to assist with problem identification, data gathering and analysis
- Liaise with our integration partners to identify issues
- Reproduction of customer issues in testlab environments and documenting incident reports
- Troubleshooting the issues of applications within the testlab environments that we (and our integration partners) maintain for development and testing purposes
- Identifying technology limitations and deficiencies in existing applications & products pre-deployment
- Building and deployment of applications for continuity and consistency
- Packaging applications to various environments like Test, Staging and Production
- Writing, updating and maintaining technical documentation, test cases and scenarios, end user documentation and support services guides
- Monitoring and providing the technical support to the application after being released and deployed to customers
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of software development processes, including such areas as release management, bug tracking, writing test cases and regression & integration testing
- Assisting external testing agents with regulatory compliance testing
Your technical skills will include:-
- Level 3 Software or Application support
- Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting tools (Wireshark, error logging scripts)
- Knowledge of database analysis tools (MSSQL or other SQL compliant Databases)
- Knowledge of technical networking concepts and security
- Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems (including embedded and/or tablet variants)
- Experience with cloud based deployment environments (MS Azure)
- Experience with issue tracking systems such as JIRA
- Experience with revision control systems such as git, bitbucket, CVS
- Experience with automated unit testing and continuous integration desirable

Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Diploma or a Degree Qualifications in computer/electrical engineering, computer science or other relevant IT discipline.
- 3-5+ years of experience of software or Application support
