The Reserve Bank of Australia pursues national economic policy objectives and undertakes a range of associated activities in financial markets and banking, along with operating infrastructure critical to the payments system.
Our Information Technology department plays a critical role in assisting the RBA to meet it’s strategic responsibilities, and is the core provider of technology facilities, services and support to the organisation.
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced and motivated Senior Developer to join a small, quality focused team responsible for managing and enhancing a number of large, complex and data-focused systems used in financial markets, predominantly in a .NET environment.
This role will be offered on a 12 months contract basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse, design, develop, test and document applications for use in financial markets
- Enhance and Support production systems by problem resolution and system upgrades
- Provide advice and technology solutions to support the organisation’s business and enterprise architecture.
- Create processes, security measures, standards and best practices
- Contribute to the selection of system architecture components
- Evaluate and undertake impact analysis on major design options and assess associated risk
To be successful in this role you’ll need:
- A degree qualification in either Computer Science or IT
- Extensive experience in developing robust software solutions using .Net technologies, with a sound grasp of key SDLC concepts relating to application design, coding, security and testing approaches
- Experience with multi-tiered architecture
- Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders effectively
- Advanced knowledge of Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) and T-SQL
- Knowledge of XML related standards and technologies
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
As this role is focused towards applications that support the functioning of financial markets, some exposure to the banking or finance sector would be advantageous although not essential.
