One in three Australians will need blood in their lifetime. At the Australian Red Cross Blood Service, we’re entrusted with collecting, processing and delivering this vital supply. We also provide a range of other services to the healthcare sector related to transplantation and immunogenetics, testing, consulting, education and research.

Within a professional and close-knit team you will be responsible for providing high levels of expertise in Information Security to identify and protect the Blood service information assest through application of people, process and technology. There will be an element of on-call work required on top of your normal business hours which will be covered by an allowance.

Your challenge is to provide technical “Subject Matter Expert” (SME) support services for core security systems in order to assist in maintaining the confidentiality, integrity and availability of Blood Service Information Assets. You will also be required to work on project based input; working closely with other areas of the IT team to create BAU process and procedure on new security inclusions.

You will have:

• Minimum of 7 years experience with demonstrable skills, in a generalist security role
• Coupled with industry certification such as CISSP, CEH, GIAC, SABSA, SANS
• Working knowledge of IDS/IPS, DNS, VPN, SIEM, Firewalls
• Ability to work across all of business security rather than only specific areas
• Experience with process lifecycle; ability to create & manage security policy & procedure
• Proven expertise with the process of remediation of vulnerabilities identified by Threat and Vulnerability Management Tools
• Demonstrated track record of threat and vulnerability analysis skills, including experience producing threat and compliance reports for a wide variety of audiences (technical and non-technical)
• Familiarity with Information Security Management System Frameworks like ISO 27001 and the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF)
• Previous experience in a mid to large sized complex organisation

You will also be:

• An excellent communicator with a high level of interpersonal & relationship management skills and a proven capacity to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
• Able to engage with the business and support and implement change, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
• Ability to effectively balance BAU and project work to provide suitable outcomes on both fronts
• A strong team player, and as part of a larger team, you must be able to collaborate and influence across functional teams
• Available to work flexible hours as needed in addition to regular working hours
