To help us on our journey we’ve got a newly created role for a WordPress Engineer to be part of highly focused, mission-driven teams delivering a range of solutions using emerging technologies as well facilitating ongoing enhancements to existing software. We’re looking for a problem solver who can take complex initiatives and break them down into lean deliverable milestones whilst being able to articulate and provide clarification to non-technical colleagues.

More about the ROLE:
Reporting to the Development Practice Manager, you will play a key role in the architecture of solutions delivered to the business, and will be involved throughout all stages of the software development process, including consultation with stakeholders, design, implementation, testing, release and post-implementation support and maintenance. Other key focuses include:

• WordPress – Developing, supporting & innovating custom WordPress sites including:
  • o multi-site admin, setup and development
  • o new features, plugins and functionality
• Agile – Teams are given the autonomy to come up with solutions & how they deliver independently in cross-functional teams
• Rapid Frontends – We’re in the process of breaking apart our website into CI/CD driven deployable components, owned & supported by the team who built them
• A champion for continuous improvements & knowledge sharing within your team & the wider practice
• Contribution to the delivery process, tech enablement & architecture alignment of the team & practice
• Deployment frequency, lead time for changes, mean time to recover & change failure rate of components owned

  
About YOU:
We’re looking for a WordPress Engineer who is looking for a long term career in Front-End engineering. Ideally you’ll have a degree in Multimedia/Computer Science or similar but it’s not overly important if you’ve done a better job figuring it all out yourself! Technical Skills

• At least 3 years’ experience building & supporting custom WordPress applications, including WP-engine
• Experience developing WordPress custom functionality, plugins and modules
• Experience working with PHP, JavaScript & HTML5/CSS3
• Exposure to modern JavaScript frameworks, languages and tools such as NPM, Webpack etc
• Highly proficient with responsive web development; cross-browser and device agnostic

Core Competencies:

• An active interest in the latest technologies & architectural trends (meetups, blogs etc.)
• An understanding of the value & challenges in implementing Continuous Integration/Delivery
• Experience in agile methodologies and its application to the development process
• A proven track record of delivering the best solution for the task at hand, not just building the solution expected/requested, and putting forward alternative solutions
• BDD & TDD practitioners are encouraged to apply
