QK Technologies is looking for a User Experience Designer to join our web and mobile development team in a full time position.

Our flagship application, QikKids, is the market leader in child care management software. Our products enable child care services to manage administrative tasks, create content for children's daily experiences, and allow parents to view and interact with the images and stories produced, as well as other child care related functions.

We are looking for a passionate and experienced designer to join our family of talented team to work on the next generation of our industry leading child care management tools. The successful candidate will help shape a powerful product suite with a unified customer and brand experience.

The UX designer will also be expected to design the overall functionality of the product, and in order to ensure a great user experience, lead customer testing and co-design with customer workshops.

Child care is a unique domain and existing child care experience would be advantageous but not necessary. The successful candidate will report to the Product Manager but otherwise, be expected to work autonomously.

Initially, our web applications will be the primary focus, with improvements to the mobile application coming at a later date.

Responsibilities

• Translate concepts into user flows, wireframes, mockups and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences.
• Facilitate the product vision by researching, conceiving, sketching, prototyping and user-testing experiences for digital products.
• Design and deliver wireframes, user stories, user journeys, and mockups optimized for a wide range of devices and interfaces.
• Identify design problems and devise elegant solutions.
• Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and features.
• Take a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate your designs.
• Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.
• Ask smart questions, take risks and champion new ideas.

Skills

The ideal candidate will have strong User Experience Design skills, including:

• A solid grasp of user-centered design (UCD), planning and conducting user research, user testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis, usability and accessibility concerns.
• Expertise in standard UX software such as Sketch, Adobe XD, OmniGraffle, Axure, InVision, UXPin, Balsamiq, Framer, and the like is a must. Basic HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript skills are a plus.
• Ability to iterate designs and solutions efficiently and intelligently.
• Ability to clearly and effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to teams and clients.
• A clear understanding of the importance of user-centered design and design thinking.
• Ability to work effectively in a team setting including synthesizing abstract ideas into concrete design implications. Experience working within Agile project teams is a plus.
• Be passionate about resolving user pain points through great design.
• Be open to receiving feedback and constructive criticism.
• Experience with online analytics tools such as Clicktale, Google Analytics to analyse the success of designs.

• Work closely with the Product Manager to analyse and implement designs based on customer feedback.
