Reason for this role:
  • The Principal Infrastructure Technical Lead is responsible for providing expert services to support and advance Westpac Technology Infrastructure's development, design and operations and for providing input into the strategic direction
 
Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialised third-level support and technical assistance on major issues and incidents to ensure issues are resolved within a timely manner
  • Understand business continuity requirements and provide expertise in the development of Disaster Recovery plans to ensure effective Disaster Recovery plans are developed, documented, tested and implemented
  • Undertake problem determination and root cause analysis as required to ensure permanent corrective actions are implemented appropriately
  • Review and critique major proposed changes as required to ensure successful implementation of infrastructure changes

Experience:
To be successful in this role you must have:
  • A track record (min 2 years’ experience) of development of models using Machine learning or AI to achieve business outcomes, preferably in areas such as Information Technology and IT Service Management
  • Have experience in manipulating, handling and extracting data from large structured and unstructured data sets including one or more of the following: time series data, predictive atmospheric models, weather or climate data, satellite imagery, and geospatial data;
  • Strong problem-solving skills with an understanding of the complexities of working in a large organisation;
  • Experience with Python or the proven experience of multiple other languages allowing you to compress complex data / production grade models;
  • Solid working knowledge of querying and manipulating datasets with exposure to at least one industrial-strength database;
  • Empathy for end-users and a creative ability to apply data and data relationships across multiple sources and domains to help solve real business problems;
  • Strong organizational, communication and collaboration skills to build and strengthen working relationships;
  • Experience in agile methodologies such as Kanban and/or Scrum;
  • Experience in analysing datasets and translating the analysis into stories and insights.
  • Predictive Analytics, Pattern recognition & Trend Identification
 
Desirable skills:
  • Working knowledge of IBM Watson.
