I have the pleasure of recruiting for an exciting position for a solid Hands-On IT Manager that has experience managing Infrastructure and Software Application projects.

My client is a large private organisation and has become known as one of Australia’s fastest growing tertiary institutions. They are making a positive mark in their industry, have a vast project pipeline in place as they look to continually enhance the learning environment of their students by implementing cutting-edge technology.

This is a pivotal role and requires a Manager to lead and grow their current small IT division.

This business has lots of ideas, and given their growth strategy, there will also be opportunities to get involved with Greenfield projects! For this reason, we are looking for candidates that are passionate about IT, energetic, love innovation, and have the ability to “Think outside the Box”.

You will be responsible for leading and managing the risk, quality and progress of their internal ICT, as well as be involved with projects (application and infrastructure projects) to organisational standards, and ensure projects are completed on time (facilitating business initiatives), on budget, to quality standards, and within agreed scope.

The role will also involve, but not limited to:

• Creating a vision and plan to significantly improve the underlying processes in support of the business

• Working diligently to refine and enhance service delivery and work closely with internal teams and technology partners to support the highest levels of quality in systems delivery and operationalisation of the business.

• Management of IT Support/Systems Administrator   

• Manage and undertake the planning, setting up and maintenance of an efficient IT network and system across various business locations

• Give guidance, provide information and train staff on the use of IT hardware and software

• Regular testing of backup and disaster recovery procedures

• Verify application results by conducting system audits of technologies implemented

• Prepare and maintain a comprehensive register of software licences and ensure the business is complying with all legal requirements in the use of software packages

• Prepare and maintain a register of all company owned and hired IT equipment and ensure routine maintenance is undertaken

• Report any errors or misuse of the IT system

• Prepare and deliver a month-end report on all activities carried out via the external IT services provider

• Grow the IT team

If you have previously gained exposure to Learning Management Systems (LMS), Content Management Systems and CRM-based projects, that would be highly desirable.

The following skills and experience are required to be considered for this position:

• IT Degree/Certifications

• Masters or PMP (Desirable)

• 5+ years of IT Management experience – experience leading a small team.

• Extensive experience with stakeholder/vendor/service provider management

• Extensive hands-on Infrastructure and Software experience

• Ability to wear multiple hats

• Experience putting together IT strategy

• Project Management experience

• Demonstrated experience managing Application Development, Technology and Infrastructure projects including IT system deployment and upgrade projects.

• Experience managing Business improvement projects

• Demonstrated experience working with a recognised project management methodology.

• Strategic thinker with the ability to influence combined with a roll up your sleeves approach

• Ability to work with business to define solutions required and build the business case

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Demonstrated experience and ability to liaise with and build relationships with all levels of staff and stakeholders (C Level and Executive Team Members)

• Excellent Time Management Skills

• Ability to work in a team environment as well as individual task

• Ability to take initiative, energetic, positive “Can-Do” attitude

• Be Innovative and have the ability to “Think outside the Box”

• Strong attention to detail

• Proven experience in managing change in a small to medium-sized organisation
