About the Role

As a data engineer at VGW, you will work on our next-gen Analytics Architecture, handling the huge amount of data generated from user clickstream and server data, and running machine learning models in batch and in real-time.

You’ll have the opportunity to work on rapidly growing amounts of data from online social gaming products including Poker, Blackjack and Slots. We’re collecting hundreds of millions of user events per month, and growing exponentially. You’ll help to answer questions and tackle problems in marketing and product development that will enable our business to continue to grow and provide a broad range of fun and engaging games.

Our current analytics stack includes a growing AWS Redshift data warehouse feeding Tableau for reporting. Our next-gen analytics infrastructure will handle the huge amount of data generated from user clickstream and server data, and run machine learning models in batch and in real-time. You’ll play a central role in defining this architecture, which may run on services like AWS Kinesis, Lambda, EMR, or on AWS EC2 machines using Apache Kafka, Spark, etc.

About You

We'll expect you to have experience with the following:

• Python, Scala, R programming
• RDBMS skills, particularly Amazon Redshift
• Apache Hadoop, MapReduce, Spark
• Working with RESTful APIs (Facebook Ads API, Google AdWords are important to us)
• Working in Git, GitHub and JIRA
• Distributed systems on Amazon Web Services
• Interest in machine learning algorithms
• General understanding of analytics

Extensive experience in the above is not a pre-requisite, mostly we’re looking for talented people with a will to learn, and a passion for data, analytics and data science, but we do need you to be ready to hit the ground running.
