Peoplebank Canberra currently has on offer two (2) Business Analyst contract opportunities with our Federal Government Department based in Phillip, Woden. The Department is seeking these professionals to start in late July/early August through to 30 June 2019 with the provision of two 12-month extension options.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Creating detailed business analysis artefacts that outline issues, opportunities and solutions for a business;
  • Defining business requirements, confirming them with stakeholders and seeking their confirmation for inclusion in the solutions that will meet required outcomes;
  • Planning and monitoring projects, solution costs and expected resource forecasting;
  • Reporting project status and progress to build stakeholders and senior management;
  • Stakeholder engagement within the team and the business areas affected by the project.

Required Skills & Experience / Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated ability to work within a multi-disciplinary and self-directed team and deliver user centric outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work primarily to the lead business analyst or other team leads as required, to undertake user research, elicit and document functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake objective user research with the primary focus on business needs, balanced against the team’s delivery of technical solutions.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills including listening to users and demonstrating empathy with user problems.
  • Demonstrated experience in agile delivery including the ability to assist with managing backlog requirements based on direction from the product owner.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the overall IT system delivery which may sometimes include performing release management, defect management, test co-ordination and other duties as required.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse business requirements in the context of strategic outcomes.
  • Minimum one to three years’ experience working as a business analyst.
  • Experience with Digital Transformation Agency’s Digital Service Standards (DSS).
