What does the role involve?

The purpose of this role is to assist the Marketing Strategy and Customer Insights team to support the enterprise customer and marketing analytics programs.  The focus will be on assessing the impact of our marketing initiatives & campaigns, as well as involvement in informing key strategic programs whilst ensuring consistency with the overall enterprise strategy; positioning Australia Post to deliver great customer experiences and drive brand & revenue growth. The role will work closely with the rest of the Customer and Marketing Analytics team to solve challenging problems and identify key opportunities related to both our customer and marketing data. The role will apply best practice data analytics techniques to deliver solutions, recommendations and embed tools and processes throughout the enterprise. In this role, you will support the application of statistics, machine learning, and advanced analytics concepts and models to extract insight from multiple data sets.

  • Assist to extract, prepare, explore and analyse large structured and unstructured data
  • Data mining and machine learning activities including predictive analytics to extract insights
  • Working with both digital and offline marketing data
  • Assist with translating and presenting analytical insights into clear, comprehensive and actionable recommendations
  • Undertake prototyping, building and implementing new data products, processes and solutions
  • Assist with enterprise digital marketing tagging process
  • Engage with a wide range of stakeholders to access and understand data across the enterprise, use this information to articulate specific business challenges, and design and inform each customer data analysis deep dive to address these challenges
  • Perform analyses of complex data sets using advanced analytics tools that support and inform business decision making related to marketing campaign design and budget allocations
  • Believes in the principle of One Team and puts the customer and the Enterprise ahead of own agenda in words and actions
  • Foster the One Australia Post approach, focusing on safety & wellbeing and putting the customer at the forefront of all activities and decisions
  • Work collaboratively with immediate team and internal technology and other analytics teams to build and maintain analytical assets such as segmentation models, self-service dashboards, propensity models, infographic assets, analytical data sets and data comprehension catalogues within defined data governance practices

What experience will you have?

Technical proficiency in customer, marketing & digital insights, combined with interpersonal skills to transform and deliver data into easily understood concepts and recommendations are key to this role. The role will also be required to support collaboration with other analytics functions within Australia Post to assist with progressing broader analytics capability initiatives such as the building and maintenance of strategic assets.

  • 3+ years’ post graduate experience working as part of a marketing and or data team dealing with agencies, third party suppliers, and large matrix stakeholder organisations
  • Analytical and interpretive skills
  • Ability to make decisions and take/communicate appropriate actions
  • Ability to adapt and respond quickly in a changing environment
  • Experience in supporting the delivery of large analytical programs of work
  • Demonstrated analytical thinking combining business acumen
  • Experience in collaborating and influencing stakeholders within a large matrix organisation structure.
  • Good business acumen and understanding of business goals and needs
  • Able to solve problems and undertake quantitative analysis, extracting insights and turning them into recommendations
  • Working knowledge and understanding of key business and marketing processes
  • Understanding of the strategic marketing planning and go-to-market processes a plus
  • Ability to operate in a large, complex organisations
  • Understanding of our key customers and associated value proposition of Post’s products and services
  • Bachelor level qualifications in Computer Science or Statistics, or equivalent experience in the workplace
  • Data management and extraction experience – SQL including using Oracle/Teradata
  • Strong technical ability in the use of data analytical tools such as SAP Hana, SAS, SPSS, Tableau or R, for data mining, data manipulation and analysis
  • Predictive & Choice Modelling
  • Python (NumPy, SciPy, etc)
  • Working knowledge of digital marketing tech a plus (Google DoubleClick Stack, Adobe Analytics, etc)
